Cold & Snowy Days Highlight January
So it was a cold January that saw a "big" storm drop 5.5" of snow on New Chauncey and West Lafayette. It caused us to shovel the sidwalks and driveways. The storm allowed some of us to talk with our neighbors while shoveling and our heaters and fireplaces were doing double time to keep up. February promises to be much warmer but I sure would not put away all the cold weather gear - Mother Nature should have at least one more blast for us before giving way to Spring. Below is a photo of Carl Griffin shoveling his walk - he is at the top of the steps below the porch - no really, he's there

Winter 2008 in New Chauncey

First 2008 Snowman was spotted in the morning of November 30 on Rose Street - Not sure that he lasted the day though as temperatures climbed above freezing before noon.
Winter this year technically started in the fall with our first snow on November 30 - the Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend. This snow was the wet kind although not much really fell. We did spot the first snowman on Rose Street. The photos below were taken in the morning of 11/30.
As winter shows herself, this page will have updated photos and stories.
