As the Summer Begins to Wind Down...
Can you believe it? It's August already and there are just a few more weeks before school is back in session for students of every age. As we begin to wind down the summer and move toward the opening of schools, there will be some new crosswalks and increased enforcement of the speed and right-of-way laws. Please be careful and watch for those pedestrians (students, joggers, and dog walkers too).
Also with the construction on Robinson, Salisbury and Northwestern, leave a little extra time and expect some traffic delays. These projects will be ongoing for the next few months. Safety is everyone's concern.
Our annual cicadas have arrived as well. While not in the numbers that we have seen in the past few years, their summer song can be heard during the early evenings throughout the New Chauncey Neighborhood. For more on cicadas check out our new Cicadas in New Chauncey? article.
Cooler and Drier...at least kind of
Summer 2009 has been cooler and drier so far, even though it rained most of the day on the Fourth and the past couple of days have been a bit sticky.
The annual soap box derby was held at the end of June on Grant by the high school and Slayter was decked out for the concert on the Fourth. By the way, the fireworks were terrific.

Graduations & the "Special" in the 'Hood
The graduation season is upon us and as happens every year about this time the Boiler Special haunts the New Chauncey Neighborhood.

If you are lucky enough to see the "Special" run down your street, give a wave and a "Boiler Up!" shout out.
