Welcome Back Bake & Garage Sales Create Morning Buzz

The annual New Chauncey Bake and Garage was a wonderful success as scores of people visited dozens of garage sales in the New Chauncey Neighborhood finding deals and hidden treasures. The coffee and tasty treats served up in the Green's front yard were a welcome start to many of the garage sale shoppers - Please note that next year they will have more banana bread :)

The NCNA sponsored the event traditionally held the weekend before Purdue fall classes began. This annual event is always a hit with the residents, and along with some delicious treats, students and visitors alike found some real deals.

Get there on time!!

Bake Sale

The Bake Sale started at 8:00 a.m. and knowing in past years the best treats seem to go early, there was a bit of a panic to get to Park Lane on time. But it all turned out for the best - The guys made it in time and the lovely ladies who baked the night before were ready to serve up coffee and the all important goodies.

As the morning progressed the traffic headed toward the more than dozen garage sales throughout the New Chauncey The Universalist Church Joined in the SaleNeighborhood. Anything from bikes to children's clothes and from tools to books were for sale. Sellers were prepared for any weather that Mother Nature threw their way, goods were on porches, in garages, housed in storage rooms, and in the Universalist Church meeting hall - but all was for not as the morning was warm and nice.

One of the most heart warming things about this neighborhood is the history that the people have with the area - the generational roots, stories, and friendships. Imagine, if you will, growing up in a home that you then have the opportunity to buy and raise your family in. What a great tradition - the way it used to be everywhere still exists here in New Chauncey.

Custom Decorated Cakes

The ladies did a great job on this custom ordered cake - All of the bake sale proceeds went to the NCNA to fund events and neighborhood improvement projects throughout the year.

Many thanks to Elizabeth Green and her talented baking crew who worked late into the evening to get the fresh baked goods ready and to Tami Hammack for organizing and coordination the garage sale including the signs and maps. Without these helping hands, this event would not be nearly as successful - THANK YOU!!!!
