As part of our effort to build community between the City, residents and property owners, we encourage you to step up and step out to get to know your neighbors and the property owners on your block. Most misunderstandings can be eliminated with a little R-E-S-P-E-C-T (with apologies to Aretha ) and good communications.
Everybody wants to have a safe and friendly community where neighbors know one another and are there to lend a helping hand - it's your turn to step up and do your part.
The New Chauncey Neighborhood contact for the West Lafayette Police Department is Lt. Gary Sparger. You can contact him by calling the Police dispatch 765.775.5200 during the day, but email is best. If you have and questions, concerns, or suggestions regarding police enforcement in our neighborhood, please feel free to contact him.
If you have an emergency, please call 911 and for non-emergencies call the dispatcher at 765-775-5200.
If you see graffiti in the neighborhood or anywhere in West Lafayette, please call the Mayor's office 765-775-5100 and let him know where you saw it and approximately when it "arrived."
After you have reached out to your neighbor and you would like to contact a rental property owner to discuss any issues that are important to you or you feel he or she should know about, we have a sample letter and some helpful hints to get you started.
Additionally, the New Chauncey Neighborhood has its own political action committee aptly named CHAUNC-PAC. You can become more involved in the City's political workings and advocate for our neighborhood at the same time. See the CHAUNC-PAC web site for more details.
